butterflies

As I look at Mount Elbert looming amidst the Rocky Mountain, it is hard for me to imagine that in a matter of days I will be bound for another world. I try to focus on the trip ahead, zoning out the high plateau landscape around me, and can't help but feel the pre-flight jitters. Did I pack well? Do I have all my camera equipment? My passport is in my bag...right? I know I have everything I need, however I can't help but feel unprepared to descend into another culture.

Yesterday I was hiking to the top of the tallest mountain in Colorado. This time next week I will be stumbling over Czech words and money, exploring ancient sites and trying to figure out my next stop. I'll be the first to admit, I have turned into a mountain girl. I used to love the city, crave the energy, explore new cities all over the world. And I'm not saying that I have forgot how to love those things, just that I have gotten used to a different style of life, here at the top of the mountains. Already though I am impatient to get to Granada, my home for the next two months. As I plan for the adventure ahead of me here are some shots from the last week.
